PCAU-report

The Palliative Care Association of Uganda starts in 2015 a surveillance system to better understand and support palliative care services throughout Uganda. The pilot is started with four side participants. This participants has to ‘deliver’ information each month using an Open Data Kite app, developed by Brianna Wanlass, M.S., University of Notre Dame. The participants gathers the required data and entering this data on the app on their smart phone. A direct link between OKUFAYO-soft and the PCAU system is impossible but OKUFAYO-soft has a report which collect the data and present this in a report. The report can be used to enter the correct data manually in the app.

IMPORTANT: the data on the report is based on closed consults. So, before creating a report for a specific period, first finalize and close all consults in that period.
Click on the button [PCAU report] and a pop-up window is opened.

Above print screen is made on a Dutch computer system, description of the month will change to the language of Windows.

In this pop-up the period for which the report must be made, can be entered. Default the previous month (according to the current date of the computer) and 1 month is selected. The amount of months and the until month can be changed. The text behind Period: will change according to the entered selection.  Next print screen shows the correct selection if the report must be created for January and February 2016.

Choose the type of output for the report.

  • Save as PDF, report is saved as PDF-file on C:\okufayo\PDF_files with the name PCAU_<<sequence no>>mnd<<year and month>>. The report will also be opened as PDF with the standard PDF-reader, set up in Windows.
  • Show report, shows the result as a Access report on the screen.
  • Print report, prints the report to the standard Windows printer without any option to choose the correct printer.

Cancel the process using the X in the right upper corner. 
The report shows the data for the 22 questions which need to be answered in the ODK-app.
An explanation of the questions:

  1. What was the total number of palliative care patients seen in the past month for pain management and other palliative services?
    Total of patients with a booked and closed consult in the selected period. The type of care of the consult must be Medical or Psychosocial care. If patient has multiply consults in the period, it will be counted as 1.
     
  2. Out of the total number of palliative care patients seen in the last month, how many were new patients?
    Total of question 1, only for patients with a Date in program (patient details) which is in the selected period.
     
  3. What was the total number of palliative care patients seen only for pain management in the past month?
    Total of patients seen in the selected period with a type of care Medical AND the sub_type of care Pain Management. If a patient is seen multiply time in the period, each consult is counted.
     
  4. How many of the palliative care patients seen for pain management were adults?
    Total of question 3, but with only the patients which are 18 years or older when the consult was booked.
    If a patient was seen twice and the first time the patient was younger than 18 the visit is not counted in the result . only the consults are counted when the patient was 18 or older.

     
  5. Of the adults, how many were male?
    Total of question 4, patient had the gender Male
     
  6. Of the adults, how many were female?
    Total of question 4, patient had the gender Female.
     
  7. In the past month, did you see any palliative care patients who were children?
    Total of patients according to the result of question 1, age of patients seen was younger than 18 years.
     
  8. How many palliative care patients seen in the last month have a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS?
    Total of patients according to the result of question , diagnosed with a disease from the Disease group HIV-Ca or Hiv-Infect.
     
  9. How many palliative care patients seen in the last month have a diagnosis of HIV/AIDS and cancer?
    Total of patients according to the result of question 1, diagnosed with a disease from the disease group HIV-Ca. Or diagnosed with diseases from the disease groups Cancer AND HIV-Infect. A patient with only a disease from the group Cancer is not counted in this result.
     
  10. How many palliative care patients seen in the last month have a diagnosis of cancer?
    Total of patients according to the result of question 1, diagnosed with a disease from the disease group HIV-Ca OR Cancer.
     
  11. How many palliative care patients seen in the last month have a diagnosis of cancer of the prostate?
    Total of patients according to the result of question 1, diagnosed with the disease Prostate Carcinoma (disease no.300).
     
  12. How many palliative care patients seen in the past month have a diagnosis of cancer of the breast?
    Total of patients according to the result of question 1, diagnosed with the disease Breast Carcinoma (disease no. 25).
     
  13. How many palliative care patients seen in the last month have a diagnosis of cancer of the esophagus?
    Total of patients according to the result of question 1, diagnosed with the disease Oesophagus  Carcinoma (disease no. 240).
     
  14. How many palliative care patients seen in the last month have a diagnosis of Kapoi’s sarcoma?
    Total of patients according to the result of question 1, diagnosed with the disease Karposis sarcom (disease no. 860) OR Kaposis sarcoma (disease no.150).
     
  15. List any other cancer diagnoses for palliative care patients seen in the last month.
    List, comma separated, of diagnosed diseases of patients based on the result of question 10, exclude the diseases used in the result of question 11, 12 or 13.
     
  16. List any other conditions for palliative care patients seen in the last month.
    List, comma separated, of diagnosed diseases of patients based on the result of question 1, exclude the diseases used or listed in the result of question 11, 12,13 or 14.
     
  17. How many adult palliative care patients died in this past month?
    Total of patients died in the selected period. It doesn’t matter if the patient is seen (booked and closed consult) in the selected period. Age of the died patient was 18 years or older.
     
  18. How many child palliative care patients died in the past month?
    Total of patients died in the selected period. It doesn’t matter if the patient is seen (booked and closed consult) in the selected period. Age of the died patient was younger than 18 years
     
  19. How much morphine was received in bulk at this facility in the last month?
    Total of received products, grouped in the product group Opiods. Receiving date must be in the selected period..
     
  20. How much green morphine (5mg/5ml) was used?
    Total of the prescribed (in selected period) product Morphine 5mg/5ml. Notation is in Mls.
     
  21. How much red morphine (50mg/5ml) was used?
    Total of the prescribed (in selected period) product Morphine 50mg/5ml. Notation is in Mls.
     
  22. What was the total amount of morphine used at the facility for patients in the last month?
    Total of question 20 and 21 in Mls.
